The FSSAI, India's top food regulator, has released a draught of regulations on dairy equivalent standards that aren't derived from animals or dairy. Adulteration in Food Items

Image
It is tough these days to find quality products in this fast-moving world. We move on the clock and buy packaged goods from the shelves of the supermarket. Hence, the mass production and some frauds sitting amongst us interfere with the products we purchase and we end up consuming those products with almost zero nutritional value. This happens most of the time with food products. And it is called the adulteration in food items or better known as food Adulteration.  Food adulteration is the deliberate lowering of the quality of food provided for sale, either by the addition or substitution of inferior substances, or the omission of a valuable element. Food adulteration is caused by the addition of preservatives or undesired chemicals to food items in order to make them look more appealing or stay longer on shop shelves. Going more in-depth, adulteration in food items , according to the definition, is the act or process of intentionally or willingly degrading the quality of food items

What’s and How’s of Fruits and Vegetable Packaging

Image
One of the most critical tasks in the lengthy and intricate trip from grower to customer is packaging of fruits and vegetables . Handling, shipping, and marketing fresh produce is made easier with bags, crates, hampers, baskets, cartons, bulk bins, and palletized containers. In the United States, more than 1,500 distinct types of produce packages are utilised, and the number is growing as the industry develops new packaging materials and designs.  Despite the fact that the industry agrees that container standardisation is one approach to cut costs, the trend in recent years has been toward a greater choice of package sizes to meet the different needs of wholesalers, consumers, food service customers, and processing companies. Protection, tamper resistance, and particular physical, chemical, or biological requirements are all provided by a packaging. It may include a nutrition label as well as other information about food available for purchase in local and international marketplaces.

Food‌ ‌Flavors:‌ ‌Understanding‌ ‌Food‌ ‌Additives‌

Image
Food's appearance is critical, but food flavours determines its quality and acceptability in the end. Natural flavouring materials such as herbs, essential oils, and fruit juices have long been used in food preparations, but since availability has not kept up with demand, resulting in an increase in their price, natural flavouring agents have been increasingly replaced by synthetic flavouring agents. Food additives are substances that are added to food to preserve or enhance its protection, freshness, taste, texture, or appearance. For decades, food additives like salt (in meats like bacon or dried fish), sugar (in marmalade), and Sulphur dioxide have been used to preserve food (in wine). Food additives may be natural, synthetic, or derived from plants, animals, or minerals. They are purposely added to food to perform such technical functions that consumers sometimes overlook. Thousands of food additives are used, each one intended to perform a particular function in making food s

Advantages of Dry Storage Technique

The dry storage area of your business is where you keep non-temperature-controlled stocks of cereals, flour, rice, dried pasta, fruit and vegetables, canned goods, and packaged foods. Fundamental dry storage is used to store any food that does not require absolute temperature control to remain safe, such as unopened food that has been commercially processed to remain germ-free without temperature control. Pasta, canned foods, cake mixes, flours, grains, beans, spices, honey, oils, dehydrated fruit, seeds, and the list goes on include items that do not require te

Benefits of Organic Food

Image
The term "organic" refers to the methods used to grow and process agricultural products. While regulations vary by country, organic crops in the United States must be grown without the use of synthetic herbicides, pesticides, or fertilizers, as well as bioengineered genes (GMOs). Freshly grown vegetables, meats, and dairy products, including frozen dinners, are all examples of organic foods. Antibiotics, growth hormones, and animal by-products are not permitted. Your mental and emotional health, as well as the environment, are all affected by how your food is grown or raised. Peo

Antimicrobial Food Packaging

Image
The use of packaging to disperse antimicrobial chemicals isn't new; it's been done since the beginning of packaged foods. Antimicrobial packaging falls under the umbrella of active packaging and is frequently used in conjunction with other active packaging technologies to achieve a synergistic impact.  Antimicrobial packaging is a type of packaging that kills or inhibits the growth of microorganisms in the packaged product, extending the shelf life of perishable foods while also improving food safety. Minimally processed deli meat and seafood, fresh and loose (frozen then thawed) fruits and vegetables, cheese, and baked items all employ antimicrobial packaging. Antimicrobials are mostly found in the plastic that serves as the direct food contact layer in plastic, paperboard, metal, glass, and multicomponent-based containers. There are three Antimicrobial Agents like Chemical Agents, Natural Agents and Probiotics. Herb and spice extracts are known as wide-spectrum antibacteri
